[Price: $25k, Location: IL] This B7 S4 Avant is special. Firstly, this is 1 of 1 in this specific color, transmission, and options configuration sold in 2008 in the US. And it is 1 of 21 phantom black, manual, black interior wagons sold in 2008 in the US. But that’s not all, it has also had the infamous timing chain serviced with JHM’s intermediate timing chain kit – along with a list of other preemptive maintenance done at the same time. If the rarity and the maintenance isn’t enough, it features some of our favorite B7 S4 mods: long tube headers, lightweight flywheel, and stasis coil overs. We would not be surprised if rare manual wagons like this one command premium prices in the future. Check out this beauty below or over at audizine:

Sound:
Not much sounds better than this V8 with JHM long tube header, stasis cat back and the lightened flywheel, it just sounds right. In my opinion, it’s an incredible balance of refined and primal.
History:
I purchased the car in CA at 81k miles. Carfax says that it was originally purchased in Rhode Island on 9/29/2007, but was then registered in CA less than a year later. It says that I’m the 3rd owner and that it has a clean history. Since purchasing, I have pampered her. Never used for short trips, very rarely has she seen trips shorter than 20 minutes each way. The vast majority of the miles that I’ve put on have been in the form of very pleasant cross country road trips. I always avoid high engine load until 5-10 minutes after the coolant gauge stabilizes. Always garaged and well maintained. As far as I can tell, it’s never seen winter or salt.
Like most if not all of her V8 S4 sisters, she burns some oil. I’ve found that it burns much less oil when it has a new PCV, but that seems to only help for a couple thousand miles, I’ve only recently added the catch can (because the PCV system seems flawed and easily soiled) 1 tank of gas ago. In that tank there was no noticeable oil missing. In the time that I’ve had her, I’ve changed the oil every 4-5k miles and after reading how all of these seem to prefer different oils, I have tried several oils (Lubro-Moly, Motul X-cess, Motul specific). This little princes appears to strongly prefer Motul 300V
Motivation:
We moved back to Chicago and 4 cars is officially an annoying number of cars to have in the city. I still owe money on this one and with the way that I pamper this car it just doesn’t make sense to keep here as I’ll have to pay to have it in climate controlled storage every winter and I rarely drive it here through the war zone looking Chicago streets. I however really enjoy being in this car, it’s an incredibly nice place to be, and my better half is very emotionally attached to this car as well. I know that I’ve got way more invested in this car than I can never dream of getting back (in the 50K neighborhood) and I am very aware that I’m asking above kbb value but I think this is a very fair price, to the right buyer considering the rarity, tasteful mods and the fact that it has already had the timing chain serviced.
Shipping:
I’ll gladly coordinate shipping (to a salt free climate) at the buyers expense.
