Need some help planning out your Valentine’s Day? Here are a number of ideas, varying in price, to consider if either you or your date are car enthusiasts.
Track Day
Share your or your date’s passion by spending the day experiencing the trills of a track day before going out for something more traditional in the evening. There are two ways to do this, either sign up for a track school where instructors will walk you through drills to improve your driving, or for a regular track day. Both are fun and are great for building experience – and you or your date can ride along as a passenger to get the full experience as well.
Drive-in Movie
Spend as much time as possible in your/their beloved car by going old school and watching a movie together at the drive in movie theatre. Not only will you get to show off your car, but you’ll get full surround sound through your speakers in the comfort of your own space. And for those of you with tinted windows – you can even get the option of privacy if you know what I mean. Bonus feature of going to a drive through versus a regular movie theater – you generally get to watch two movies if you want for the price of less than one ticket at your local theatre.
NASCAR
Want to get away from always falling back on going to the movies? Try another spectator event like going to a race. Depending where you live, the options will vary as to what is going on but NASCAR Sprint Unlimited will be running at Daytona on the 14th. Yes, NASCAR – trust me, any V8 making that much power and running no mufflers will sound glorious in person.
Garage Scavenger Hunt
Want to put in a lot of work and show how much you care? Put together a nice car themed scavenger hunt for your date. Notes can be hidden throughout their garage and car, each giving them a clue to a date/gift and the next note. You can make it as long and complex as you would like. Find an example below to kick start your creative thinking:
- Note 1: [Placed next to a fresh cup of coffee and flowers] “Happy Valentine’s Day” with a little letter or poem (maybe a haiku to make it easier) getting him/her excited about the challenge/game you are about to play and giving them the first clue as to where you hid the next note.
- Note 2: [Hidden in the Garage] An explanation/clue to the first date you planned – favorite breakfast/brunch place – with a clue to where the next note is hidden.
- Note 3: [Hidden in your Tool Box] A small gift she can use for whatever activity you decide to do along with another clue.
- Note 4: [Hidden in your Car] A note hinting at the restaurant you’ll be driving to together.
Rent a Car
If you know what your date’s dream car is and are of age to rent, get it as a rental car for the day to drive around together, making little planned stops here and there like you would on a road trip. Pull up to the restaurant valet at dinner, and get the full pampering and looks when you arrive and leave in your sweet ride.
Go Karting
Want to take your date on more of a double date with some close friends? Go-karting is a great option for two or more people, especially if you want to make it a competitive, all-inclusive, bonding experience that both the guys and girls enjoy.
Off-Roading ATV Style
Planning on going away for the weekend already? Maybe include an activity like renting an ATV – or two, depending how into it your date is – and go off-roading. Not only does it allow you to explore the area, but it’s also a lot of fun! Not in a warm climate area? Make it a snowmobile! Either way, you’ll both sure to have a blast.
