I am mostly interested in seeing what I can get in trade for this car. I will consider selling it, however. I am looking for something different. I would really like a nice turbo truck that I can tow with and race, and some cash back to me. I also have always wanted a C5Z. However, I am open to all offers for interesting things. I like different. I even like imports.
If you are interested in buying, send me a PM and we can discuss a sale.
I am sure plenty of you know this car. If not, here is the build:
Fairmont 2.0 (forged lq4, s480, 800whp, under new management)
This is probably one of the most well known Fairmont swaps out there. I bought this car from Matt over 2 years ago. It was a SBE 5.3 car with an 80E and a Magnum 80mm. I have changed most of this car over time, but it is still the same car in spirit. I have made no real effort to make it prettier, just faster, more reliable and more consistent.
Engine is a 408 stroker built on an LQ9 block. It has Callies Compstar rods, Diamond pistons with Hellfire rings and a K1 crank. It has a LJMS cam with 235-237 duration, .610 lift that is 115+5. It has TFS 220 heads from Brian Tooley Racing. ARP 2000 studs. LS1 intake and 127 pound injectors.
Turbo is a Garrett GT55 91mm turbo with a .90 A/R turbine housing. It has excellent boost response. Custom fully divided 2.25 inch hot side, single 60mm WG. Has a massive 5 inch thick Garrett air to air intercooler and an AIS Meth kit with rear mount 3 gallon tank.
Transmission is a fresh 1.80 straight cut Glide with a custom PTC 9.5 inch converter that was put together by Dusty Bradford. Converter and trans have less than 100 miles on them and 4 passes at the track. Pro Brake and a B&M Billet Pro Bandit. Custom driveshaft.
Rear is an 8.8. It has 33 spline Mosers, spool and C-Clip eliminators.
Rear suspension has stock location Strange 10 ways with coilover conversion, UPR Extreme double adjustable lowers (with relocation brackets), Baseline Pro Launch relocated uppers, UPR Anti-Roll Bar. Has an SSBC rear disc conversion.
Front suspension has Strange 10 ways with coilover conversion. Custom Baer front disc brakes.
Car has Draglites on all 4 corners. Fronts are powder coated black, rears are dipped. M/T front tires and Hoosier 28×10.5 stiff sidewall slicks. Car is still 4 lug. I also have a set of 10 holes with brand new 27 inch tall fronts (0 miles) and ET Pros out back that are just down to the wear bars.
Managed on Microsquirt and tuned for pump/meth on low boost and C16 on high boost. Wideband is a Dynojet Commander. AEM Tru-Boost controller.
I am sure I am leaving out plenty of small stuff. Anything that gave me trouble, I generally replaced. Like, it has a billet manual belt tensioner, for example. All new Micro wiring harness by Shannon Taylor.
The only known issue with this car is the passenger side head has sealing issues. It will put some combustion gasses into the coolant but no coolant into the combustion chamber. I call this LS Disease. I bleed the pressure after a pass or two and it will not push, or push very little. I got tired of looking at the overflow, so I put a 1 gallon in the trunk and out of harm’s way. I also recently relocated the battery.
This is a solid, consistent and very well performing car. I will give times to interested parties. Suffice it to say that it will put you effortlessly into single digits on low boost. I have only been out once with the Glide and once the launch rpm, boost level and suspension setting are fully tweaked, I expect the car to go 1.2s. It went 1.3’s off of the foot brake with an 80E.
Also, this car is well known. Very well known. The subject of numerous articles and features when Matt owned it, and more under my ownership. Awesome article about the car.

I have some races on last year’s addition of Texas Streets from 1320 Video. The loss to the LSX Willies prompted the suspension upgrades. The car hooks on the street with minimal prep and will pull the wheels at The Pad.
It is fun to take this car out, because people go nuts over it. It is also fun to drag people’s ass with this car, because it dispenses massive butthurt. This car is special, and that is part of the appeal and the value. people WILL come up to you and ask you if you are “that guy…the Sloppy Mechanics guy,” LOL. The car will draw a crowd every time. And, if you are so inclined, the car will win you money. No, it is not a show car. Yes, it is a Sloppy Mechanics icon. I am not going to give it away, or trade it away for nothing. I have so much time and money in this car, I cannot even calculate it all. I have no need to get rid of it, but I have two cars now and I really am having a hard time focusing my energy on both of them.
