The car started out as a 1987 Turbo II. I bought the car in 2008 from a guy who used it as a daily driver and autocross car. It ran and handled well. The LS1 conversion was finished in 2009.
I initially built the car to be a daily driver, with AC and power steering. Over the years, it has been converted into a track car, used primarily for track events and an occasional autox.
The car *could* be street legal – it has lights, wipers, horn – but it is uncomfortable, hot, and loud. So I would recommend against it. The car has never been built with looks in mind. It has a crappy flat black paint job. No major dents or dings, but it doesn’t look nice trust me.
As a general rule, there are very few cars on the track that will pull on it in the straights. It weighs 2400 lbs and has approx 400 hp. Power oversteer is generally achievable in the first four gears. With sticky tires, it handles very well. It has no ABS and no traction control, but as long as you keep that in mind, it’s a beast.
I’ve listed the current setup below, and just for “fun” I’ve listed an approx retail value.

This of course doesn’t include what I paid to get the power steering and AC functional, since I then turned around and removed it all for weight savings. I paid $3,000 for the car initially, and it looks like I spent another $13,000 (plus) over the last few years.
I would rather not part it out. I figure for the time and hassle I spend on disassembly and shipping, I might as well keep the car and track it another year or two. I’m not in a particularly big hurry to sell. As far as I know, the car is turnkey and the only thing it needs prior to heading to another track event is an oil change and a fresh brake fluid flush. If it doesn’t sell by May or so, you can bet I’ll have it out on the track!
